TIPS TO ATTAIN A GLOWING AND HEALTHY SKIN

Mrs Fakunle couldn't keep her gaze off Mrs Atere. She stared at her with open admiration and awe. Her skin glowed under the L.E.D light. She waited patiently beside her to finish her discussion before she pulled her to the side with the many questions swirling in her mind. 

'Mrs Fakunle, how are you doing?' Mrs Atere asked

'I am good. I do not even need to ask you because your skin is glowing. What is your secret?' Mrs Fakunle replied.

Mrs Atere smiled 'My secret is simple. I read tips on how to achieve healthy and glowing skin on healthyish blog and I applied it, then boom!' she did a 360° turn 'this is the result'

'Oh! You mean healthyish? the health and lifestyle coach?' Mrs Fakunle asked.

'Yes, the exact one. Her articles have been doing wonders. I plan to book a one-on-one session with her very soon'

'Thank you so much. I will check out her page too. I need to achieve this level of glow too' She smiled. 

A shining skin is a sign of a healthy skin. Everyone loves a glowing and shining skin. It boosts one's confidence and self-esteem. It is also an indicator to one's physical health. Most people strive to have a glowing and healthy skin. A glowing and healthy skin is smooth with few blemishes, breakouts and adequately hydrated. There are tons of skincare products that can help individuals achieve this glowing and healthy skin. However, certain lifestyle and dietary changes have been known to work the magic of reaching glowing and healthy skin. 

1. Stay hydrated: Water is important for supporting the elasticity and suppleness of the skin. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day helps to flush out toxins from the body keeping it hydrated and clean.

2. Eat balanced diet: There is a saying that 'you are what you eat'. The food we eat reflects on our skin. It is important to eat healthy by incorporating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins into our diet. Research has shown that diet rich in fish oil or fish oil supplements and low in unhealthy fats and processed or refined carbohydrates might promote younger looking skin.

3. Protect yourself from the sun: The ultraviolet rays from the sun have been shown to do the biggest damage to the skin. Protect yourself from the sun by applying sunscreen, wearing protective clothings such as shades, wide-brimmed hats or fez caps and also avoiding walking when the sun is at its peak between 10am-4pm.

4. Get adequate sleep: Sleep is the period when the skin repairs itself. Sleeping for at least 8 hours daily helps the skin to repair itself and achieve a glowing and healthy skin. 

5. Manage stress effectively: Chronic stress triggers certain skin problems such as acne, eczema and psoriasis. Managing stress effectively by getting enough sleep and making out time to do what you love doing can help in achieving a glowing and healthy skin.

6. Avoid smoking: Smoking is hazardous to the skin's health. It reduces blood flow to the the skin, thereby reducing oxygen and nutrients supply which contributes to wrinkling and premature aging of the skin.

7. Limit alcohol intake: Excessive consumption of alcohol dehydrated the the skin and leads to inflammation. This gives the skin a dry and flaky look.

8. Engage in regular exercise: Exercise increases blood flow to the skin, thereby, nourishing the skin and keeping them healthy. It also promotes the production of natural oils that give the skin a healthy look. Aim for engaging in at least 30 minutes of exercise in a day.

9. Avoid touching your face: Touching your face with the same hands you have used to touch different surfaces causes skin breakouts. This is because there is a transfer of germs and bacteria from the hands to the face. This also gives the face a dull and dry look.

Achieving a glowing and healthy skin is not a herculean task. It is achievable and practical. With the right lifestyle and diet, you can achieve a glowing and healthy skin.
